£2 Million Bank Employee Fraud By Hacking Internal Computers

Stuart Miller Solicitors expert Fraud Team were asked to represent a woman allegedly involved with a man to steal more than £2 million from Barclays bank.

The allegations were that an employee of the bank, employed as a manager of the software engineering team; identified inadequacies in the bank's computer system and exploited these by writing programmes which allowed him to send money to 'ghost accounts'.

These 'ghost accounts' were applied with substantial overdrafts and used to make transfers allowing the withdrawal of cash.
